COVID-19 General information on the closing of schools in Bavaria
General information on the closing of schools in Bavaria
All schools in Bavaria have been closed since March 16, 2020. During the closing period until April 19, 2020, pupils are not allowed to enter school buildings. It is planned to resume regular teaching activities on April 20, 2020 (Monday following the Easter break).
As the number of coronavirus infections has increased significantly in the last days, the statewide closure of schools has been imposed in order to contain and delay the further spread of the virus. Please reduce contact with other people to a minimum. We strongly recommend that pupils should stay at home. Holiday trips are no longer possible.
Emergency care for children during the closing period
Children whose legal guardians work in areas of critical infrastructure and are unable to look after their children due to official or operational necessities can be supervised at the school they usually attend (during the child’s regular school time including afternoon care).
Emergency childcare service is offered for pupils from grades 1 – 6 whose parents are employed in areas of critical infrastructure. Click here for further information.
Additionally, the following conditions apply:
- the child shows no symptoms of illness,
- the child has not been in contact with infected persons or 14 days have passed since contact with infected persons and the child shows no symptoms of the disease,
- the child has not stayed in an area that was designated as a risk area by the Robert Koch-Institut (RKI) at the time of the stay or was designated as such within 14 days thereafter, or 14 days have passed since returning from a risk area and no symptoms of illness have been observed.
If the conditions for emergency supervision at school apply for your child, please complete and sign this form. Bring it with you to your child’s school.
Please refrain from leaving your children with their grandparents. Due to their age, they are especially at risk of catching an infection with the coronavirus.
Studying at home while schools are closed
The period of school closures is no extension of school holidays. Teachers remain in duty and supply their pupils with materials for studying at home. Pupils receive instructions and material e.g. via email or the learning management system mebis.
If you have questions please contact your child’s teachers.
Enrolment at elementary schools (grade 1) for the school year 2020/2021
Enrolment of next year’s first-graders at elementary schools takes place as originally planned. However, due to current circumstances the registration process can also be conducted via telephone or in written form (e.g. via email).
